Willowfest has joined forces with cricket technology company CricHQ for the upcoming Global Water Willowfest Australian Cricket Club Championships. Willowfest will be the first competition in Australia to officially use CricHQ to score its Cup Grade competition.
Willowfest President Anthony Telfer said the move showed why the carnival was at the forefront of changes in regional cricket in Australia.
“To be the first Cricket competition to use CricHQ scoring system in Australia is extremely exciting for Willowfest,” Telfer said.
“Willowfest have been looking at this technology for the pas
t three years and are excited to offer this live score facility for the first time to Willowfest teams.
“This partnership will benefit both Willowfest and CricHQ with instant live ladders, bowling and batting statistics once the games are completed.
“The CricHQ scoring system has the potential to save many hours of data entry at the completion of each days play.”
CricHQ started in New Zealand with the help of former Test captain Stephen Fleming. The app is free to download and has been approved by
the ICC and has been endorsed by George Bailey, Brad Hodge, David Hussey and Stephen O’Keefe since making the move across the Tasman. Live scoring will allow anyone around the world to follow the Cup Grade competition ball-by-ball. Other tools such as wagon wheels, run worms and full match analysis will be used to give the Cup Grade a professional feel. We are also looking to trial this in the other 3 grades throughout the 4 day carnival.
To follow Willowfest live, download the CricHQ app, for your smart phone or tablet, or tune into the Willowfest website during the carnival at www.willowfest.com.au.
Teams will need to bring with them either an Ipad or tablet, with an easy training session being provided for each club over the next few days prior to Christmas.
