FORMER Irymple quick Jake Reed will make his debut for Victoria today against South Australia at the Adelaide Oval.
Reed, who won the inaugural TAC Willowfest Express in 2011, has been one of the best performed bowlers in Victorian Premier Cricket this year, claiming 46 scalps at an average of 12.2.
The Commonwealth Bank Bushrangers have named Geelong speedster Jake Reed in their 12-man squad to take on South Australia in a Bupa Sheffield Shield match at the Adelaide Oval starting Thursday (20/2).
The 23-year old quick bowler will become the 839th player to represent Victoria in first-class cricket should he be selected in the final XI.
Reed has claimed the most wickets in Bartercard Premier Cricket this season with 46 scalps and has grabbed 25 wickets, at an average of 8.08, in the past four matches.
Reed was also on the supplementary list for the Melbourne Renegades in the Big Bash League this summer.Reed joins Rob Quiney, Jon Holland, Fawad Ahmed and Michael Hill as inclusions in the side after last week’s innings defeat to New South Wales.
Victorian chairman of selectors Andrew Lynch said Reed had “smashed the door down in recent months”.
“He has been on the horizon for a while and has performed really well in Premier cricket and Futures League recently,” Lynch said.
Victoria will take on South Australia at the Adelaide Oval from 11am on Thursday.
